1) How to get to Mancora from Lima?

There are three diferents ways to get to Mancora from Lima, it depend of the transport you use. This ways are: bus, plane and by yourself in rented car.

How to get to Mancora by BUS?

Mancora is in Piura deparment. There are many busses from Lima to Piura directly, but this travel is extemely tired because there are more than 16 hours!!! It’s better to stop in Trujillo or Chiclayo where you can find interesting places and arqueological sites. In Trujillo there are 3 surf spots too (Huanchaco, Chicama “the largest wave of the world”, Poemape). In Chiclayo you could go to Pimentel, El Faro or to visit the “Real Tombs of the Lord of Sipan”.

In Piura, you can take a bus from Mancora in differents transport companies. The most of them are located in the “Avenida Sanchez Carrión”, where is easy to get there.

Taxis no more than 3 soles and mototaxis no more than 2 soles. Obviously, taxis (cars) are safer. Is a little insecure at night but not at morning.

From Piura to Mancora, there are many towns like Sullana, Talara, Los Altos and Los Organos, and there are differents landscapes: valleys, deserts, mountains, etc.

 

Trip is trough Panamericana highway, wich is in good condition. From Piura to Mancora there are 3 hours more or less. Prices trip from Lima to Piura by bus directly are between US$ 20 and US$ 35, approximately.

 

How to get to Mancora by PLANE?

From Lima you can take a flight to Piura, Tumbes or Talara. Prices are between US$ 80 to US$ 120. Then take a bus (approx US$3 to US$ 6) or private taxi (approx US$30 to US$60). The nearest airport is “Victor Montes Arias” in TALARA

It is better to take the morning flight to arrive in the afternoon to Mancora. At the three airports there are taxi services and connection to buses agencies. Travel flight is 2 hours.

How to get to Mancora by yourself, rent a car?

If you rent a car I would also recomend taking off from Lima at 5:00 am because it could take more than an hour just to get out of the city.
If you take along your breakfast and only stop to get gas you should arrive at Trujillo for lunch easily (around 1:00 pm). then head north and you'll get to Mancora around 7:00 pm.

Mancora is located on the kilometer 1165 of the Panamerican Highway, 120 kilometers south of Peru – Ecuador coast border (known locally as “Huaquillas – Aguas Verdes”)

The closest city from Mancora is Talara, capital of the province, located 72 kilometers south. Heading north, the nearest city is Tumbes, located 83 kilometers from Mancora.

All are approx times. There is a big different between one bus service or other. Not that much on the private vehicle or taxi.

2) How to get to Mancora from Quito?

There are several ways to get to Mancora from Ecuador. There are buses directly from Guayaquil to Mancora (Ormeño is one, expensive, directly, good service) and from Guayaquil to Tumbes (Equatorian Company CIFA) where you cross the border at Huaquillas-Aguas Verdes. You can also go to Machala (Ecuador) and from there take another bus to the border (2hrs.) where you fill out the required forms in both Ecuador and Peru before passing on to Tumbes (1hr.) where you will need to find some form of transportation to Mancora (2hrs.).

The other place to cross the boarder is in La Tina and Macara located in northeast Peru, close to the Ecuadorian city of Loja. From there find transportation to Sullana (2hrs.) and then to Mancora (bus, taxi, or combi). (3hrs.)

3) How to get to Mancora from Santiago de Chile?

From Santiago (Capital of Chile) the most common form of transport is a direct plane to Lima. From there you can check your options by air and land.

From the border town of Arica (Chile) you can take a “colectivo” (shared taxi car) to the Peruvian city of Tacna. From there you can take a flight to Lima or go in bus (17 hrs. From US$10 to US$45 approximately) to Lima and check your options from there by air or land.
